Now that the craziness of the holiday season has finally passed, it has been nice to get back out in the shop and finish up a project I had been working on for some time now.
I'd go on and on about it, but believe it or not, I'm having a bit of writers block tonight. So have a look at some pictures for now.
The rack is constructed of...you guessed it...cherry and finished with...you guessed it...Arm-R-Seal, four coats to be exact. I decided to go with a gloss finish this time for some odd reason, and I think its a bit too glossy.
Here's some more pics, sans reading material:
The slats are attached to the sides with dowels. Honestly, if I had to do it again, I'd use mortise and tenon joinery for the slats as the dowels were a major pain in the ass to align and glue up. But the book from in which I found this plan seems to like to use dowel joinery quite a bit. It works nicely, but doesn't leave much margin for error.
It was a neat little project to build...and now I have somewhere to keep all of my wood porn :)
